Thank You for a Great Year

We had a great year at ElkGroveRealEstate.com

Why, do you ask? It is all because of you, our friends and clients, who trusted us to provide you the best real estate professionalism in our community. Just like you, we know that Elk Grove is a great place to live, shop and play. Don’t forget to check out or informational pages at LivingInElkGrove.com and ShoppingInElkGrove.com

Another reason we had a great year at ElkGroveRealEstate.com was that our youngest son, Joshua, who had been our Transaction Coordinator, decided to join us as a Realtor. He passed his test and now we are working as a family, assisting you and your families.  Joshua is still going to college but joins me with clients to learn the business through first hand experience when it fits with his college schedule.

Thanks again for helping us have a great year
as your Realtors.

Where Do People Shop in Elk Grove

Whenever I meet with a new buyer, especially one from out of town, they always ask me where to shop. Generally, they say, “Where is the mall?”

Unfortunately, I had to tell them that the mall has not been finished yet, but the question did lead me to the need to provide additional information about where to shop in Elk Grove.

Rather than writing a lot of text to tell you about it, why don’t you just look at this video and you will learn all about it.

I am new to Elk Grove; “What stores do you have?”

When I first moved to the Elk Grove area, I had already been living in the Sacramento area since 1973, and Elk Grove was little more than a wide spot in the road. In those days, you drove up to Florin Road the the Florin Mall to shop, or you went to the Sunrise Mall.

Things have changed in Elk Grove over the years.  Although some people still drive to those locations or the Downtown Sacramento Mall or even the Roseville Galleria if the want to shop at a Nordstrom’s or a Macy’s, but the shopping opportunities have grown over the years in our small town.

We now have two Target stores, two Kohl’s and two Walmarts. We also have a Costco, a Sam’s Club close by. We have Best Buy, Hobby Lobby, Old Navy, TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less, Burlington Coat Factory, DSW shoes and soon we will have a Steinmart.

In fact, we have over 50 shopping areas in Elk Grove. We have the Elk Grove Marketplace, also called the 99 Marketplace by some folks. We have Laguna Gateway and Laguna Crossroads, and College Square, etc… We even have an unfinished mall, the Elk Grove Promanade, on the south side of town. It was started just about the time the real estate market crashed throughout the US and it is still waiting for an improving economy for a builder to move forward with the construction.

But, with over 50 shopping areas, how does one find their favorite stores? You log onto your favorite browser and go to www.ShoppingInElkGrove.com, of course. You will be able to find almost every store in Elk Grove. It is still a work in progress, and with the speed at which stores open and close, it will obviously be a continual work in progress.

So far, on the main page is a list of several major categories of stores with a list of stores within those categories. Click on the store name and you will jump to the shopping center where that store is located and you will be able to see which other stores are there so that you can combine multiple shopping stops into one stop. The long term goal is to provide a logo and a link to the individual store’s website in the future. If you click on the Elk Grove Auto Mall link, you will see what I have planned for the future.

You can also look at the yellow menu bar near the top of the page and click on the “Auto” link and find all of the automobile related stores on a map with links to each store. In that same menu bar you will find a link for “Shopping Centers” and you will find a map of the greater Elk Grove area with a spot marked for almost every shopping center in our city. Click on a spot or one of the letters that are identified in the ledgend at the top left side of the page to go to that shopping center’s page to see what other stores are in that shopping center.

I will be adding links for Fast Food, Family Dining, Fine Dining, Grocery Stores, Nail Salons, etc…  In the near future I will also be adding a series of links for services such as Senior Facilities, Medical Facilities, Storage Facilities, Postal/Mailing/Shipping Facilities, etc…

If you have not already looked at my online Relocation Guide, called Living In Elk Grove, you will find that they are linked so that you will have access to lots of information about our wonderful city.

In fact, one of my favorite pages on my Living In Elk Grove website is the Activities Link. You can bring up a list of Food Fairs, County Fairs and other fun events in the greater Elk Grove area. You can also click on the button for the individual month on the right side of the page to see what is happening this month.

Take a look, and let me know what you think. You will find an email button on almost every page that will give you the opportunity to let me now about missing stores or about closed stores so that I can keep the online info current for you and the other users.

I’m new to Elk Grove. Where do I find information about the community?

When I first started my real estate career in 2001, my mentor told me that it was important to become the local expert. The person that can answer the client’s questions. The “Go-To” agent. The “Trusted Advisor” who is there for his or her clients. Wow!!! That seemed to be a lot of responsibility for a new agent. The final piece of advise was that you did not really have to have all of the answers, but you did need to know where to find the answers and to get that information back to your clients in a timely manner.

The reason that I am even writing about it all these years later is because my youngest son will be taking the real estate agent exam soon, and I was remembering back to when I started and what advise I was going to pass on to him.

I thought back to the questions that I got from my buyers who were relocating to Elk Grove. Since I had lived in the area since 1973, many years before getting my license, I did have the answers at hand. Some clients had very specific questions and I had to tell them that I didn’t know but I found the answers and called them back. Some people just me to mail them a “Relocation Package” so that they could study it before they got to Elk Grove. Initially I told them that I had a real estate website, ElkGroveRealEstate.com but they would often say that they were using that website to look for homes, but they wanted more information about day to day living in Elk Grove. They wanted more information about schools, crime, neighborhoods, etc…

So, I started writing down the questions and the answers and put together a “Relocation Package” that I sent to new clients who were moving to Elk Grove.

The problem with publishing a “Relocation Package” is that it gets outdated quite easily. To solve the “out-of-date” issue, but still provide my clients with the information that they need, I created an online “Relocation Package Website” called Living In Elk Grove. I also maintain a Facebook page of the same name, Facebook.com/LivingInElkGrove so that I can stay in touch with clients on a day to day basis as well as post information about my new listings.

I have edited my Living In Elk Grove website so many times, that I cannot remember how often it has been updated. Every time a client comes up with a new question, I update the website so that the next client will find that information available at the touch of a keyboard or smart phone.

In fact, I just did a major rewrite of the whole website to give it an updated look and feel. Take a look, and if you don’t find the answers to your question, please drop me an email and I will find the answer for you and update the website for the next user.
